Observers

To enable you to have a better understanding of the hearing process, the Board offers individuals the opportunity to observe a hearing before their case comes before the Board. If you wish to make use of this facility please contact the Hearing Officer.

You will be invited to complete a form when you submit your main statement of case asking whether you have any objections to observers being present during your hearing. These are usually people likely to be involved in future hearings who wish to improve their understanding of the hearing process. A maximum of three can attend any one hearing (none of whom will come from your Department (or any of its executive agencies) or Agency. If you do object to observers being present simply mark the form accordingly. No reason need to be given. If you avail yourself of the opportunity to observe a hearing the expectation is that you would not raise any objection to observers attending your own hearing.
